OSHA 40 Hour Hazwoper Training Course
HAZWOPER 40 Hour training is required for employees who are considered General Site Workers. General Site Workers are employees who work on the site everyday and are typically exposed to hazardous materials that are equal to or over the Permissible Exposure Levels.
OSHA has developed the HAZWOPER 40 hour program to protect workers at hazardous sites and has devised extensive regulations to ensure their safety and health. Our online HAZWOPER 40 hour course is OSHA compliant.
This course fulfills your requirements for certification under 29 CFR, Part 1910.120(q) or other applicable state regulations for certification to the 40 hour General Site Worker level.

OSHA CFR 1910.120(e) states that General Site Workers must receive 40 hours of training off site. A General Site Worker is one who works on the site every day and is typically exposed to hazardous materials that are equal to or over the Permissible Exposure Level.
The General Site Worker must also receive at least three days of actual field experience under a trained, seasoned supervisor. The three days field experience under a trained, experienced supervisor are the responsibility of the student's employer or potential employer. It is important to note that the worker must have completed the 40 hours of off-site training before entering the job site.

Gulf Oil Spill Cleanup Training - 40 Hour Hazwoper:
There are thousands of new jobs right now helping to clean up the Gulf Oil Spill. Many of the jobs may require the 40 Hour Hazwoper course. Our discount code "HAZSPECIAL" reduces that course by $35.00 for a total cost of $314.96. The OSHA government website is still recommending the 40 hour course for official oil spill cleanup.
Occasional Site Workers are those who are only exposed to levels that are under the Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL). These workers are typically managers, supervisors, surveyors, drivers, etc. Those workers should take the 24 Hour Hazwoper Course. The Occasional Site Worker only needs one(1) day of field experience as certified by their employer.
The 40 hour Hazwoper training course is specifically designed for workers who are involved in clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations, emergency response operations, and storage, disposal, or treatment of hazardous substances or uncontrolled hazardous waste sites.
Topics include protection against hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals, safety of workers and the environment and OSHA regulations. This course covers topics included in 29 CFR 1910.120 (e).
Note: Trainees must have additional hands-on training in the donning, doffing, and use of the Personal Protective Equipment required for their job site(s) in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120. It is the responsibility of the employer to certify that their employees have received this training.
What is Hazwoper?
Hazwoper is the OSHA acronym for "Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard". Activities related to stopping the oil spill or containing the spilled oil fall under the "emergency response" activities under OSHA's Hazwoper standard, 29 CFR 1910.120 and 1926.65.
Cleaning up the shoreline is considered "post-emergency cleanup operations" and has specific requirements, but still requires 24 hour or 40 hour Hazwoper training depending on whether the Permissible Exposure Levels are exceeded.
The Gulf Oil Spill is currently being treated with chemical dispersants like COREXIT and you must be aware of proper procedures in dealing with it.
